Cycles Lesson 4

This sermon is part 4 of 7 in the series Cycles

The Cycle of Seed Time and Harvest

The Word of God is full of examples of cycles, cycles can be a period of time in which certain phenomena occur. One example of this is the cycle that the earth makes around the sun every 365 days, we call this cycle a year. In the spirit realm there are also cycles, however, in the spirit there is no time. But there are beginnings and endings that begin and complete cycles. Without a doubt cycles have a purpose, for example consider electricity, in order for a light bulb to give illumination the electricity must complete it’s cycle. The beginning of the cycle starts at the hydroelectric plant , it moves through the transmission lines to your home, then you flip a switch that sends the electricity to your light bulb , it then passes through the wires in the bulb producing light and then returns through another wire back into the transmission system completing the circuit.

A cycle of new beginnings

Gen 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. 22 “While the earth remains,

Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.” NKJV

The seed of redemption was planted to start the cycle.

Gen 3:14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust

All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”  NKJV

Gen 28:14  and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. NKJV

The cycle of the seed went through several stages of revelation.

Gal 3:16 Now the promises were made to Avraham and to his seed. It doesn’t say, “and to seeds,” as if to many; on the contrary, it speaks of one — “and to your seed” — and this “one” is the Messiah. 17 Here is what I am saying: the legal part of the Torah, which came into being 430 years later, does not nullify an oath sworn by God, so as to abolish the promise. 18 For if the inheritance comes from the legal part of the Torah, it no longer comes from a promise. But God gave it to Avraham through a promise. CJB

The Law of Moses was given 430 years after the promise of the Seed , which is Christ Jesus, to show how much we needed the Savior, the Messiah, the Seed of the woman.

Gal 3:19 Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised. God gave his law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people. 20 Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham. 21 Is there a conflict, then, between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it. 22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.  NLT

The cycle of the Seed is truly an outstanding revelation. The Seed was planted in the earth by the spoken Word of God in the Garden of Eden. The Seed was also revealed again in the NT as the Word.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.  NKJV

The Cycle of the Seed appears again through the preaching of God’s Word.

1 Cor 1:21  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. NKJV

Rom 10:14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?

Rom 10:17  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. NKJV

1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, NKJV

The Cycle of the Seed is Awesome once it is planted in the hearts of men.

Matt 13:18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower:  19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.  20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;  21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.  22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.  23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” NKJV

The Cycle of the Seed appears again working sanctification in the life of the believer.

1 John 3: 9 No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine { seed }  sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.  AMP

The seed planted in our hearts qualifies us to inherit all the promises made to Abraham.

Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.  NKJV

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual

blessings in heavenly places in Christ: KJV

The seed is an illustration of a human life, the question is ,will we the seed choose to die or lay down our lives for Christ ?

John 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.  24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.  25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. NKJV
