One of the wonderful gifts that the Lord gave the human race is “ Free Moral Will ”, or in other words the right to make your own choices or decisions. All choices set in motion the “Law of Cause and Effect.”  All choices have consequences. For example, if you choose to ignore the speed limit signs the consequence is a traffic fine. And that is cause and effect.

David’s wrong choice to have an affair with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband at the hands of the ammonites released a judgement upon his unsuspecting family.
2 Sam 12:7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more! 9 Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. 10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ 11 Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’” NKJV

Moses referred to the children of Israel as stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart . He knew that they tended toward rebellion. For this reason, he gave them a stern warning concerning the choices they would make.

Up to this point we have considered right and wrong choices from a human point of view. However, I am challenging us today to see right and wrong choices from God’s perspective. We are going to introduce some new words that we do not normally use —– they are: Election, Predestination, Foreknowledge,
Reprobation, Calvinism and Arminianism.

All choices set in motion the “ Law of Cause and Effect.”  All choices have consequences. For example, if you choose to ignore the speed limit signs the consequence is a traffic fine. And that is cause and effect.

Today we will again look at right and wrong choices from God’s point of view. The Lord deals with the human race from two perspectives. The first is grace, the other is reprobation. God’s grace allows him to deal with us according to his mercy. However, when we reject his offer of grace he must deal with us according to his justice.
