Leader: Sanuchori Underwood - "A Bible Study on the Gospel of John”
John writes so “you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). Unlike Matthew/Mark/Luke, John isn’t a birth-to-ascension timeline; he selects seven signs and long teaching moments to show you who Jesus is! This study will include the Prologue John1:1–18): Jesus as the eternal Word who “became flesh.” Sets the theme: divinity, life, light vs. darkness. Book of Signs (John chapters1 thru Chapter 12): Seven miracles or signs that reveal His identity—water to wine, healing the official’s son, feeding 5,000, walking on water, healing blind man, raising Lazarus, plus the cleansing of the temple. Each is paired His seven “I AM” statements (Bread of Life, Light of the World, Good Shepherd, etc.). Book of Glory (John chapters 13–20): Last Supper, foot washing, His farewell discourse including love, the Spirit, and abiding in him, the crucifixion, and the resurrection. Epilogue, Chapter 21: Restoration and commission—Peter’s reinstatement.
Friday Nights | 7:00pm to 8:00pm | Place: AGCC Office Building Conference Room | 956-212-9489 | Men and Women of All Ages
Leader: Sylvia Ann Marela - “Beauty for Ashes – “A Women’s Group for Renewal, Confidence, and Christ-Centered Identity”
Our foundation Scripture is Isaiah 61:3 “To give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…” God does not dismiss our ashes, He transforms them. He replaces shame with dignity, insecurity with identity, and restores what life has tried to diminish. This is a ministry to help women rediscover their God-given beauty -inside and out. So many women carry silent ashes-divorce, rejection, grief, body image struggles, aging insecurities, financial hardship, and shame from past mistakes. Even when we love Jesus, we sometimes we still struggle to feel beautiful, worthy, and confident. In this teaching, we will combine spiritual encouragement with practical empowerment, helping to improving self-esteem and confidence in your appearance again. This is not vanity, this is restoration, confidence not arrogance; it is agreement with God about who He says you are! There is a cut-off number of 10 women, so please sign up ASAP and keep your commitment to come! If you don’t get to attend this round, you may be able to sign up for the fall session!
Sunday Afternoons | 3:00pm to 5:00pm | Place: 3608 Quail Ave. McAllen, TX 78504 | 210-984-5500 | Women of All Ages (Your Children are welcome to join)
Leaders: Pastors Rob and Mayely Vazquez- “Think about it!” Children's Church Lifecare
Every day our minds are filled with thousands of thoughts. And our thoughts have power! What we think affects how we feel and what we do. The world, our flesh, and the enemy try to get us to think differently than how God wants us to think. But we want kids to know that God is here to help them! In this series, we will teach kids that through an everyday relationship with Jesus, God can change the way they think. He wants to help them catch, check, and change their thoughts!

Leaders: Pastors Simeon and Lisa Finley- “Shaken Bible Study: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms” by Author Tim Tebow
Life is not easy. We all experience the ups and downs life - wins and losses. The world does not define you, but it certainly does try to and often, we let it. God has already defined us and because our identities are secure, we don't have to ride the roller coaster of life. The Shaken Bible Study is a 4-session study with Tim Tebow who has ridden the highs and lows in his NFL journey and learned what it means to be grounded in who you are no matter what life throws your way. The study is divided into four sessions, and each session opens with a big idea; offers a set of in-depth discussion questions drawn from the DVD, the Bible, and the book, Shaken; and closes with a prayer.

Leaders: Aaron and Aminta Limas - “The Bible, Disability, and the Church: A New Vision of the People of God”
Bible, Disability, and the Church is an inspiring and challenging study that rethinks the Bible's teaching on disability. The Bible has plenty to say about human disability; most of it is negative. Yet Amos Yong -- a theologian whose life experience includes growing up alongside a brother with Down syndrome -- argues that it is the way we read biblical texts, not the Bible itself, that causes us unthinkingly to marginalize those with disabilities. Applying a "hermeneutics of suspicion" to traditional methods of interpreting the Bible, Yong rereads and reinterprets texts from the Old Testament, John, Luke-Acts, and Paul from the perspective of people with disabilities. Revealing and dismantling the underlying stigma of disability that exists even in the church, he shows how the Bible offers good news to people of all abilities -- and he challenges churches to reorganize their practices as they strive to become more inviting, healing, and reconciling communities of faith.
